Carl Shield has announced that he will race with AK Motorsport for a second season in the Ginetta GT4 SuperCup after a strong rookie year with the team in 2018.
Shield finished fourth on his debut in the category last year followed by top ten finishes in his first twelve races.
The 39-year-old was a race winner in the 750 M3 Club M3 Cup and he will be looking to fight at the front of the field in the GT4 SuperCup in 2019.
“I’m pleased to be staying with AK Motorsport this season. We work really well together and we both learnt a lot in our first season in the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup, and I can’t thank them enough for their help and support.” said Sheild.
“I’m delighted to be on the GT4 SuperCup grid again. Ginetta run a fantastic race series and to be in the BTCC paddock is amazing. I have very high ambitions for the season ahead. I proved last year I have the pace to run at the front and that’s where I want to be again.”
Shield’s announcement completes the driver line-up for AK Motorsport with the team having already announced that rookie Carl Garnett will join them for 2019.
