Tom Emson has announced that he will remain at reigning champions Elite Motorsport for his second season in the Ginetta Junior Championship.
The 16-year-old had a strong season in his first year in the category last year with a best finish of 7th overall at Silverstone.
Emson will be looking to build on his encouraging first year with his sights firmly set on taking home some silverware in 2019.
In an interview with ginetta.com, the Kent based driver said: “Having only had limited karting experience before starting in the Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship last year, it was a steep learning curve which during the year saw my results improving as the season went on.”
“This was capped off by podium finishes and coming third overall in the Winter Series, and it felt brilliant fighting at the front. That has to be my aim again this year, to be fighting for top three finishes at the front of the field.”
Team Principal, Eddie Ives has been encouraged by Emson’s progress and is looking forward to a successful campaign.
“I am excited to announce Tom is back with us for 2019. We have been working really hard together over the winter and I am looking forward to showcasing Tom’s great progress. Tom is fantastic to work with and I am looking forward to a strong season.”
Elite Motorsport won the Ginetta Junior Championship in 2018 with Adam Smalley who is now too old to compete in the Junior category and is yet to confirm his 2019 plans.
