Jack Young tops the first Clio Cup test at Silverstone

Jack Young topped the timesheet in the Clio Cup Media day test at Silverstone on Friday.

The MRM driver was just 0.116s ahead of Team HARD driver Max Coates with a fastest time of 1m04.220s which was an unofficial lap record for the Clio Cup on the National circuit.

The two drivers are likely to battle each other all season long with Young pipping Coates to the World Final at Paul Ricard last November.

In what was a good day for Young, he also received his prize for winning the World Final in November- a new Renault Mégane R.S.

Brett Lidsey and Ben Davis were third and fourth fastest for MRM with Lidsey missing the final 45 minutes and Ethan Hammerton just behind them with the fifth fastest time of the day.

There was a two tenth gap back to Jade Edwards in sixth who is making her debut with Team HARD and she was followed by the trio of Westbourne Motorsport drivers, Aaron Thompson, Finlay Robinson and Ben Colbourn.

Less than eight tenths separated the entire field of cars in what is anticipated to be another closely fought season.
