Mike Bushell has announced that he will no longer be competing in the Clio Cup in 2019 and will be stepping away from motorsport altogether.
Bushell competed in the British Touring Car Championship in 2018 but due to funding issues, he was unable to remain in the category for a second consecutive year.
This led to the 29-year-old making a surprise announcement earlier this week that he would be returning to the Clio Cup to race for Team HARD.
However, on Friday morning Bushell announced via his Twitter page that he would be “taking a break from motorsport due to personal reasons”.
Bushell is a two-time UK Clio Cup champion having won the title in 2014 and 2017 and he had been expected to challenge for a third championship in the upcoming season with Team HARD.
Team HARD are also fielding Max Coates, Ethan Hammerton and Jade Edwards in this year’s Clio Cup campaign as they look to dominate the UK Clio Cup’s final year.
