Colin Turkington was the standout driver in the Oulton Park rounds of the British Touring Car Championship last weekend.
The Team BMW driver secured pole position on Saturday and went on to score two victories and an eighth place finish yesterday, extending his lead in the championship.
He had a touch battle with Dan Cammish in the first race, winning by 0.021s and won the second race just over a second ahead of his teammate, Andrew Jordan.
The two victories takes Turkington’s BTCC win tally to a total of 50.
“I didn’t realise this was where the stats were.” said Turkington.
“I’m the frontman but the BMW and WSR guys are the ones doing all the work, it’s for them.”
“We’re just approaching half-way so it’s still early days. Andy (Jordan) has had a great start to the season and it’s great we’ve got three quick BMWs.”
Turkington has now extended his championship lead and he is 33 points ahead of his teammate Jordan.
It was a strong weekend for Team BMW and they now top both the Manufacturer’s and Teams’ standings.
“I can only win these races with the support of a team like WSR who consistently give me the equipment to do the job.” added Turkington.
“The 3 Series was clearly the fastest car again all weekend so we can take confidence from that, but now is when the hard work really starts and we need to dig even deeper.”
