Renault UK Clio Cup driver Jack Young will make his TCR debut in the next round at Barcelona, racing a Renault Mégane.
The 17-year-old will race in the series on September 21 and September 22, just six days after competing in the UK Clio Cup at Knockhill this weekend and will drive a Mégane prepared by Vukovic Motorsport.
Vukovic Motorsport currently runs French driver John Filippi in the TCR series and sits 15th in the team’s standings with 17 points.
Young’s drive comes with the backing of Renault Sport Racing and he has already completed a test in the Mégane at Hockenheim earlier in the week.
Speaking about the opportunity to race in the TCR, Young said: “This is an immediate step-up up in performance from my Clio so I expect the learning curve to be steep, but there was no way I was going to miss this opportunity to mix it up with the big boys in the touring car series in Europe.
“My focus now is to get to know the new car and my new team as quickly as possible.
“There is a lot of work to be done between now and the end of September in Barcelona and I’m itching to get started.”
Young is currently in a tight battle for the UK Clio Cup championship title, having won four races this season, and is sat second in the driver’s standings with 209 points, just six points behind leader Max Coates.
The Clio Cup gets back underway in Scotland this weekend with a double header fixture at Knockhill.
