Williams has confirmed that Jamie Chadwick will remain with the team as a development driver for the 2020 Formula 1 season.
Chadwick, who won the W Series in 2019, in its inaugural season, joined the team last year, undertaking simulator sessions for the Grove based squad, as well as attending a number of Grand Prix.
After impressing during her stint with the team in 2019, Chadwick’s role with the team this year will be increased, with the 21-year-old due to undertake a larger simulator programme than she did in 2019, in addition to attending a number of races with the team, supporting their media and marketing activities.
“It has been a fantastic opportunity working with the team in my role as Development Driver.” Chadwick said about the announcement.
“The time spent in the simulator has been invaluable and I have enjoyed every moment, immersing myself within the team.
“I look forward to continuing to work with Williams this year!”
Chadwick will dovetail her Williams role with the W Series championship, as she aims to defend the title she won last year, and Williams Deputy Team Principal, Claire Williams, is proud of the work the 21-year-old has done to promote women in motorsport in her short career.
“I am delighted to confirm that Jamie Chadwick will continue her work in the Williams Racing Driver Academy this year.” commented Williams.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed watching Jamie develop, and excel, both with the team and her time racing in W Series.
“Jamie has done an excellent job promoting women in motorsport and we are extremely proud of the work she has done.”
Chadwick is the second development driver to be confirmed by Williams for 2020, with former Macau Grand Prix winner and 2018 FIA F3 runner-up, Dan Ticktum, announcing his role at the team in December.
