Renault has confirmed that ex-McLaren Engineering Director Pat Fry will begin working with the Formula 1 team on February 5 2020.
Fry, who worked for McLaren in 2018 and 2019, confirmed that he would be joining Renault in November, but his contractual obligations with the Woking-based team meant he was unable to start work with Renault until next week.
Renault has also confirmed that he will be present when the team unveil their 2020 challenger on February 12 in Paris.
Fry has worked in F1 for 13 years, starting with Benetton in 1987. He moved to McLaren in 1993 and held various roles, including being both Mika Hakkinen’s and David Coulthard’s race engineer.
In 2010, Fry moved to Ferrari and spent five years with the Maranello-based team, before spending a year with Manor Racing prior to his return to McLaren.
