Eurasia Motorsport will make their LMP2 debut in the FIA World Endurance Championship at the 6 Hours of Spa, round seven of the 2019-2020 calendar.
As stars in one of WEC’s feeder series, the Asian Le Mans Series, the team will continue to race in their Eurasia Racing New Zealand Ligier JS P217 car in the hands of kiwi Nick Cassidy, Daniel Gaunt and Nobuya Yamanaka.
As the reigning Super Formula Champion, and having clenched other championships in series’ like Super GT and Formula 3 Japan, Cassidy presents himself as a strong asset to the team.
Gaunt has a strong affinity with the team having progressed throughout Eurasia’s programme in the Asian Le Mans Series.
Completing the trio, is Yamanaka who has raced for the team for the previous two seasons of the ALMS both in their LMP3 and LMP2 cars.
Team principle Mark Goddard said: “We have raced at Spa before, but this is the first time for us in an LMP2 car.”
“We’re really looking forward joining the WEC grid and to the race in its own right, but also to help us prepare for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.”
The provisional entry list for the 6 Hours of Spa is due to be issued in the coming days, with the race taking place between 25-26 April (next month).
