Racing Point title sponsor, BWT, is to build a well in the villages of Gambia with every points finish across the 2020 season.
BWT, Best Water Technology, are very conscious of their role in providing clean drinking water.
The principle target of their Water Mission initiative is to build a total of 10,000 taps within the next seven years.
This will ensure that nobody in Gambia is forced to walk more than 150 metres to find clean, safe drinking water.
Otmar Szaufnauer, Team Principal of Racing Point said: “One of the key strengths of our partnership with BWT is a shared commitment to using our expertise and the global platform of sport to drive real progress in global sustainability projects.
“BWT are already supporting the team in our push to cut down on single-use plastics in the Formula 1 paddock – and with the Water Mission, we now have an opportunity to make an impact beyond the confines of the racetrack.
“As we make our long-awaited return to racing in Austria, we now have an even greater incentive to push for strong results and play our part in this fantastic initiative.”
This isn’t the first time Racing Point has been involved in charity through racing. I
n the 2019 season, former title sponsor, SportPesa, pledged £1000 to Breast Cancer Care for ever every position gained by Stroll and Perez over the season. Racing Point already had a relationship with the charity and SportPesa helped them to reach their target of £250,000 for the charity.
