Former F1 driver Brendon Hartley has split with the Dragon FE team and will be replaced for Formula E’s return in August.
The Race and Inside Electric were both confirmed to from sources that Hartley and Dragon split at the end of last week.
This evening, Dragon officially confirmed the news.

The split comes as a shock with there being no indication that Hartley’s relationship with the team was on the rocks.
He had out-qualified Nico Mueller 4-1 for the season and scored the team’s only points, albeit due to a shed load of penalties ahead of him.
In a statement released by the team, Hartley said: “I appreciate the opportunity to compete with GEOX Dragon, and really enjoyed my time with the team, and wish them every success for their future in Formula E.”
Whether Hartley will be able to continue his FE career is unknown.
An announcement will presumably come soon announcing Hartley’s replacement.
Sergio Sette Camara and Joel Eriksson competed in the Marrakech rookie test and are therefore linked with the team but nothing has been confirmed.
