Webb announced as third driver in ByKolles Racing line-up

Oliver Webb will join Bruno Spengler and Tom Dillmann to compete in the #4 ByKolles Racing at the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

It will be the team’s tenth anniversary for their annual attendance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, as this year will be the final for the LMP1 car before the introduction of the Le Mans Hypercar in 2021; ByKolles Racing are also set to race a Le Mans Hypercar in its debut season.

“We are confident that with the right mix and some good fortune, we can get a good result in both rounds to celebrate this milestone for ByKolles”, they say.

This will be the fourth-consecutive year in which Webb has driven in their #4 at Le Mans as ByKolles admire his “speed, consistency and reliability” that he is said to bring as a driver.

He will join Tom Dillmann, a fellow ByKolles regular, and WEC rookie Bruno Spengler as they all prepare to tackle these two iconic races.

Oliver Webb said: “It’s great to be back in an LMP1 car with ByKolles for the remainder of the 2020 FIA WEC season post lockdown!

“Spa and Le Mans are my two best tracks on the schedule, so it’s going to be great to get back on them alongside great team mates Tom Dillmann and Bruno Spengler, who I know are very fast and the perfect mix.”

The 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps traditionally precedes the grand Le Mans event as the LMP1 teams are given a chance to test out their Le Mans aero-packages, one of the two overall packages that are developed for a WEC season.

The Head of Operations at ByKolles Racing, Boris Bermes, said: “Oliver is an excellent driver with a lot of experience in LMP1.

“With Tom and Bruno we have a strong line up for the upcoming race events in Spa and Le Mans.”

With the implementation of the LMP1 Success Handicaps for the Spa-Francorchamps race, and not for Le Mans, we are expected to see the championship-leading #7 Toyota GAZOO Racing struggle to compete against its sister car and potentially matching pace with the LMP2 field.

Nevertheless, ByKolles are set to fight it out for an outright win against the likes of Toyota and Rebellion Racing.
