Ken Block won the inaugural Projekt E event in Holjes, Sweden on Sunday, ahead of Hermann Neubauer and Natalie Barratt.
The all-electric rallycross series had a three car entry, all Ford’s, for round one of the Projekt E series.
Block started the final on pole as top qualifier after three qualifying wins. He edged into the lead at turn one from qualifying two winner, Neubauer.
Neubauer was looking to challenge Block for the lead before a problem with the right rear caused smoke to pour out of the back, while closing on to the back of Neubauer fast, Barratt took her joker lap and passed Neubauer a lap later.
Block, improving over the course of the weekend, took a lights to flag victory. Barratt took second whilst Neubauer nursed the car across the line to complete the first ever Projekt E podium.
Day two of the series saw problems for both Barratt and Neubauer in the qualifying races.
Barratt pulled off in qualifying three, while Neubauer’s problems came in Q4.
Taking the lead from Block on the last lap, Neubauer suddenly stopped on track, but he was able to restart and complete the race.
