Cyril Raymond leads overnight in Riga, Latvia on his and the Citroen C3 ERX Projekt E debut.
An increased grid for the second round of Projekt E, the all-electric rallycross series sees four drivers. Natalie Barratt is the only returning driver from round one.
A race win each from Janis Baumanis and Cyril Raymond put them joint on intermediate points and Raymond as overnight Top Qualifier.
The first qualifying session saw two on track battles, one at the front between Baumanis and Raymond and one at the back between Barratt and Svein-Bjarte Holten.
Baumanis in the Ford Fiesta ERX and Raymond in the Citroen C3 ERX were level off the line with Baumanis taking the lead into turn one. Raymond was all over the back of Baumanis before taking his joker on lap two. Baumanis went in a lap later and held onto the lead but Raymond was right behind.
Baumanis went on to take the first win of the day.
Behind there was a battle for third between Holten and Barratt. Holten was in the position and took his joker on the penultimate lap. Barratt went on the last lap and held onto third when Holten ran wide at the final turn.
In race two it was Raymond who got the lead going into turn one with Baumanis behind.
Barratt lost on the start and dropped back but in turns one and two was able to recover and pass Holten for third.
It was the same pair of battles on track as in race one, this time round Raymond took the win from Baumanis, whilst Barratt had the better of Holten.
Projekt E returns tomorrow with two qualifying races ahead of the final.
