The race settled in the darkness stages and sunlight eventually revealed itself 18 hours into the 24 Hours of Le Mans race.

Across the hours, battles continued between the different cars on an hourly basis.

An example of this would be the GTE Pro-leading #97 of Harry Tincknell against the class-reigning champions #51 AF Corse of James Calado.

Tincknell eventually made a climb and made his move on a close fight for the lead so far.

On the other end, the #7 experienced issues as it lost the lead and fell down to fourth, and two-laps behind the #3 Rebellion. This was due to a suspected turbo issue and were forced to make a 30 minute garage-job.

The #34 Inter Europol Competition suffered issues after going to the garage to address issues surrounding the starter motor.

The GTE-Am’s #98 AMR entry had its fight for the class-lead diminished after they suffered issues, and the TF Sport Aston Martin build up a lead a lap ahead of the second-place #77 Dempsey-Proton WEC regular.

Paul Di Resta was able to apply his experience with the delicate Pirellis in Formula 1 as he nursed his Michelins as he briefly battled Robert Gonzalez, leading the LMP2 field.

Further LMP2 battles emerged after the string of reliability issues before the 12-hour mark, as a fight for third set between Matthieu Vaxserve (#31 Panis Racing) and Michel Jensen (#26 G-Drive Racing).
