Tom Ingram will depart from Speedworks Motorsport after seven years racing together since his debut in the British Touring Car Championship.
Tom Ingram will no longer race for the Speedworks Motorsport name since making his series debut in 2014.
The two-time Ginetta GT Supercup champion had spent his BTCC career finding himself as a prominent title contender in recent years.
He assures fans that he will have a new BTCC seat for the 2021 season that will be announced in the coming weeks.
Ingram said: “Speedworks was obviously my first team in the BTCC, and they quickly became like a family.
“I have a lot of very special memories from our time together.
“It’s been such a fairytale story in a lot of respects, with so many milestones simultaneously achieved…”
With the team, he secured all of his 16 BTCC race wins, 41 podium finishes, four pole positions and 13 fastest (race) laps – on top of the Independent Driver and Team titles in 2017 and 2018.
Ingram also raced in Rounds 9-12 (Donington Park) of the 2020 GT Cup championship in Speedworks’ GR Supra GT4, with a personal best finish of 11th.
He concluded: “I’m sad to be leaving, of course, but there’s no ill-feeling and I owe everybody at Speedworks a massive ‘thank you’ for our seven years together.”
Speedworks Team Principal, Christian Dick added: “There’s a great deal of pride in what we’ve accomplished, with a lot of mutual goals reached together.
“In the early years, we consistently punched above our weight as an Independent team,” he says.
“It was an excellent relationship – Tom swiftly became part of the Speedworks family – and I look back now with nothing but very fond memories.”
“We all wish him the very best in his new challenge, and I have absolutely no doubt that he will do a superb job wherever he ends up.”
