AmD Tuning Managing Director, Shaun Hollamby and Pete Osborne, has today acquired the Motorbase Performance team ahead of the 2021 BTCC season.
Long-term Team Principal and Founder of Motorbase David Bartrum will step to the sidelines after leading the name for almost two decades.
Motorbase has endured successes in the BTCC with several victories, British GT in the form of the championship title in 2012, and their pursuits in the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain.
“For me personally, this is closing one chapter in my involvement with the BTCC as well as starting a new one,” inbound Team Principal Hollamby said.
“We had some great times as AmD Tuning in this amazing championship and I want to thank everybody involved through all those years.
“Motorbase Performance is synonymous with everything that is great about the BTCC and a huge deal of credit must go to David [Bartrum] and his team for what they have achieved.”
Motorbase has claimed 109 BTCC podiums since joining in 2006, after clinching the 2016 Independent Teams’ title and finishing as Independents’ runner-up in only last year.
Hollamby and Osborne describe the “great foundation” that Bartrum has established and both reckon they will have a “unique offering” to the team’s future.
Osborne, who’s son Sam Osborne currently competes in the championship through a partnership for MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square, added:
“The opportunity to build on David’s fantastic work at Motorbase Performance in partnership with Shaun is something I am motivated by.”
Bartrum concludes his time at the helm of the team:
“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed building this team from the ground up over the years and seeing it achieve tremendous success both on and off the track.
“I wish the team all the best and good luck for the future. I won’t be too far away and will be watching Motorbase march on from the sidelines.”
The team will continue to operate under the Motorbase Performance banner, core operational staff including the likes of Team Manager Oly Collins to work with AmD’s Technical Director Rob Tickner at Motorbase’s workshop in Kent.
The driver lineups will be announced soon, ahead of the 2021 season opener in April at Brands Hatch Indy.
