Jade Edwards has joined the BTC Racing team for the 2021 British Touring Car Championship season after making her debut last season.
The 29-year-old will now contest a full BTCC season since she made her debut at the Silverstone weekend last year for PMR in their Vauxhall Astra.
She now completes the lineup of three at BTC Racing, after Tom Chilton went to Cicely Motorsport – teammates Michael Crees and Josh Cook are confirmed at the team.
“The plan for that one weekend was always to make it onto the grid full-time,” she said.
“I have worked with the BTCC and BTC Racing over the last year, giving my support and being a real advocate for the team.”
In 2019, she formerly competed in the Renault Clio Cup UK Championship where she took seventh in the championship and a personal best finish of fourth.
Her climb up the touring car ladder began back in 2006 when she raced in the Ginetta Juniors Championship.
She also drove a Ginetta (G55 GT4 variant) in the 2014 and 2015 years of the British GT Championship.
“It’s been my dream to race in touring cars properly, not just a one-off.
“Steve [Dudman] and all the team at BTC have made this happen and I am so grateful to them all for the support. I really cannot tell you how excited I am about the season ahead.”
Steve Dudman, Team Owner and Team Principal added: “I am absolutely delighted that we’ve been able to put a deal together with Jade for her to race her first full season in the series.
“We certainly have high hopes for what Jade can achieve this season with BTC Racing, especially after seeing her do such a professional job both in and out of the car on her BTCC debut last year.
“She’s a racer through-and-through and knows how to get stuck in, which is what touring car racing is all about.”
The season opener begins at Brands Hatch Indy on April 3-4, where she will make the first step of a 30-race calendar in her Honda Civic Type R FK8.
