Speedworks’ Team Principal, Christian Dick, is impressed by Rory Butcher and his three years in the British Touring Car Championship.
“Rory’s calibre is clear to see,” said Dick who signed Butcher for the 2021 season.
“His progress has been highly impressive – what he has accomplished since making his debut in the series (2017) is quite remarkable.”
Butcher secured two BTCC titles in 2019, the Independents’ Trophy and Jack Sears Trophy.
His 2020 campaign was his most successful thus far with three race victories and six podium finishes.
He continued: “We have had many on-track battles with Rory, and he has always been a very hard but fair racer who leaves nothing on the table, so we are really looking forward to having him in the team.”
Tom Ingram drove the Corolla to several podiums and wins in 2020, but departed Speedworks Motorsport due to an external disagreement over the placement of the Ginsters’ sponsor on the car.
He is assured that Butcher will push the Corolla to achieve winning results as illustrated by how he pushed his Ford Focus ST machinery throughout 2020.
As Ingram joined EXCELR8, Butcher left the Motorbase team after the single year spent at the squad.
Butcher now partners Speedworks’ GT4 regular Sam Smelt as part of double-Corolla lineup for 2021.
The upcoming campaign will commence on April 4, at Thruxton, where he will put the Corolla through its paces for the first time in race conditions.
