Ferdinand Habsburg and Charles Milesi join current Formula E star Robin Frijns to complete Team WRT’s FIA WEC driver line-up.
The team are set to debut in the FIA WEC with an LMP2 Oreca 07 Gibson against 11 other class rivals.
DTM star Ferdinand Habsburg commented on his graduation to LMP2: “Team WRT became my racing family last year in the DTM, we got along very well.
“It’s almost a crazy thought to imagine that we are going to enter a World Championship together this year. It shows the commitment to one another is strong, that we believe in and support each other.
“After the good results last year, I can’t wait to have more success at this kind of scale.”
Charles Milesi said: “It will be a new challenge for me and the team,” now racing full-time on a world championship status.
The 19-year-old Frenchman has a single-seater career in the French F4, Super Formula, and a couple of Formula Renault championships.
He made his sportscars debut in the European Le Mans Series at the 4 Hours of Monza last year, with a third on-track finish.
DragonSpeed USA’s efforts were diminished and disqualified by the height of the non-compliant diffuser.
He raced in DragonSpeed’s Le Mans 24 Hours efforts last year but retired late into the race, alike his recent Racing Team Nederland commitments at this year’s Rolex 24 Hours.
He continued: “They had a lot of success in the past and I am looking forward to this new season, we have one of the strongest package and line-up in the very competitive WEC field, it will not be easy but we have the potential to fight at the top.”
The WEC Prologue for pre-season testing is scheduled for March 30-31st.
The 8 Hours of Portimão will open the 2021 season a few days after on the April 4th.
