Three-time champion Gordon Shedden has returned to the British Touring Car Championship with Team Dynamics for 2021.
The 42-year-old Scotsman, nicknamed ‘Flash’, has returned with Team Dynamics after three years absent from the championship.
He replaces Dan Cammish who partnered BTCC veteran Matt Neal for three years but recently stepped back from driving duties.
Shedden said in a release: “I can’t wait to get back in the car.
“I have kept in touch with the team throughout and obviously jumped in the car early in 2020, when Matt was injured, and it felt great.
“That was the first time I had driven the new car and it felt right from the off.
“I’ve been keeping an eye on the Championship, and it looks mega competitive, but my fight and determination is as high as it’s ever been, so I’ll be giving it my all.”
After debuting in 2001, his full-time drive in 2006 kicked off the momentum in his highly successful BTCC career.
He claimed the overall Drivers’ title in 2012, 2015 and 2016 with all of his 48 race victories under Team Dynamics-run Honda machinery.
Matt Neal added: “It’s great to have ‘Flash’ back in the car, he knows the team and he knows the way we work.
“He showed last year that he hadn’t lost his pace, so we are expecting great things of him, no pressure!”
The 2021 season is set to begin on May 8/9 at Thruxton, where Shedden will be making his 350th BTCC race start.
