Corvette Racing has confirmed the attendance of a single C8.R GTE-Pro entry that won the Rolex 24 at Daytona, in GTLM, earlier this January.
Corvette Racing regulars Antonio Garcia (who won this year’s Rolex 24) and Oliver Gavin will share a car for the first time at the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps season-opening round.
The duo will be fighting for class-victory in LM GTE-Pro against two AF Corse Ferraris and two Porsche GT entries, but will also take part in the preceding Prologue testing.
We are headed back to @FIAWEC with two #Corvette entries in #GTEPro for #LeMans24 and a single #C8R for @AntonioGarcia_3 and @olivergavin at #6hSpa!@jordan10taylor @nickcatsburg @TommyMilner @NickTandyR @AlexanderSims @TeamChevy @24hoursoflemans pic.twitter.com/Rhoqrq9d9S

The American outfit participated in the WEC’s Lone Star Le Mans during last February when they finished sixth out of seven cars in the class.
Garcia was a duo with Jan Magnussen, a former team regular since Le Mans in 2004.
Since then, the new C8.R found success during the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship and managed to secure an IMSA GTLM Drivers’ and Team’s/Manufacturer’s titles.
Between IMSA and the FIA WEC, pit stop operations and safety car procedures are among the differences separating the same type of car competing in two sports car championships.
An example includes how the WEC does not tolerate wheelspin when moving away from the pit box, as opposed to IMSA who encourage it.
Season 9 will kick off with the Prologue on April 27-28 and the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps on May 1.
