The Alpine Elf Matmut endurance team has officially launched their team and their Alpine A480 Gibson Le Mans Hypercar in its new livery.
The ex-Rebellion R13 has officially made its transition over to Alpine and as a Le Mans Hypercar in this year’s FIA World Endurance Championship.
Drivers André Negrão, Nico Lapierre will be joined by newcomer Matthieu Vaxivière, as confirmed earlier this year.
Philippe Sinault, Alpine Elf Matmut Endurance Team Principal, said:
“Alpine’s history is paved with challenges. Since 2013, we have been proving ourselves step by step, and showing that we are capable of defending the Alpine colours at the highest level. This new challenge is part of this mindset.”
The French manufacturer has raced in the FIA WEC’s LMP2 category since 2013 with two championship titles and two Le Mans victories.
The team are making the step up the the top class in a bid to fight for the overall win and world championship titles against Toyota and Glickenhaus at the Le Mans 24 Hours, this August.
He continued: “The trust that Alpine has placed in us for this project is a source of great pride.
“We are approaching Confidential C this programme with humility and the desire to do well at a time when the world of endurance racing is at a turning point in its history.
“We are determined to rise to this exhilarating and incredibly motivating challenge to once again anchor Alpine in the pantheon of French and international motorsport.”
In what Sinault described as the ‘king category’, he is ambitious and confident that their efforts this year will challenge their rivals in light of the ‘Balance of Performance’ measures.
