Qatar GP: Morbidelli on top in penultimate practice session

Franco Morbidelli ended the penultimate free practice session of the Qatar GP on top, with the Yamaha looking strong in the hot conditions.

As was the case yesterday, the track was busy as soon as the green flag was waved, with every rider making their way out on track.

Jack Miller found himself in the gravel for the second time this weekend, losing the front end through Turn 15, showing the Australian may be struggling to find full consistency on the Ducati.

After the first runs, Morbidelli was on top with a 1m55.124s, but went on to better that with a 1m54.676s lap.

Aleix Espargaro continues to look strong and heads straight into Q2 later today, the Aprilia rider finished in second ahead of Luca Marini and Alex Rins.

Fabio Quartararo ended the session in fifth, with Joan Mir and the LCR Honda of Takaaki Nakagami behind.

The second factory Yamaha of Maverick Vinales finished eighth, Stefan Bradl and Miguel Oliveira completed the top-ten.

Tech3’s Danilo Petrucci finished 11th, ahead of Alex Marquez and Jorge Martin.

MotoGP rookie Enea Bastianini suffered a problem with two minutes remaining in the session, the Italian ended the session in 14th ahead of Miller’s Ducati.

Valentino Rossi finished FP3 in 16th on his SRT Yamaha, ahead of Pol Espargaro, the Honda rider goes straight to Q2 after setting a strong time in FP2 yesterday.

The second Tech3 of Iker Lecuona finished 18th, ahead of Brad Binder who looks to be struggling around the Losail track.

Lorenzo Savadori ended the session in 20th, ahead of Pecco Bagnaia and Johann Zarco.

The times in FP3 are not representative of how the riders will perform, as the sun goes down later on for qualifying of the Qatar GP, the times will drop significantly.
