Qatar GP: Vinales ends FP4 on top of the leaderboard

The final free practice session of the weekend saw Maverick Vinales take the top spot, with qualifying now moments away ahead of the Qatar GP.

As with FP1, FP2 and FP3, all riders took to the Losail track in conditions that will mirror tomorrow’s race, to get any adjustments made before qualifying.

Johann Zarco led the majority of the session, setting the all time top speed record, clocking 225.5mph on the pit straight.

Vinales set the fastest time at the end of FP4, setting a 1m54.106s lap, ahead of Zarco in second.

Fabio Quartararo put his Yamaha in third, ahead of Miguel Oliveira and Aleix Espargaro, the Spaniard continues to look strong on the Aprilia.

Joan Mir finished sixth, ahead of Franco Morbidelli and Stefan Bradl.

LCR Honda’s Taka Nakagami and Suzuki’s Alex Rins rounded off the top ten, with Pecco Bagnaia in 11th.

Alex Marquez ended FP4 in 12th, with Jack Miller 13th on the Ducati and rookie Enea Bastianini in 14th.

The first Tech3 bike of Danilo Petrucci finished 15th, with Brad Binder and Valentino Rossi behind.

Jorge Martin ended the session in 18th, ahead of fellow Spaniard Pol Espargaro and Esponsorama rider Luca Marini.

Iker Lecuona finished 21st, with Lorenzo Savadori 22nd.

The bikes are already on track for Q1 of the Qatar GP, with the top two riders in that session progressing to Q2 which will take place very shortly.
