Esponsorama Racing come into their 2021 campaign with a whole new line-up, Enea Bastianini and Luca Marini. The two rookies are exciting talents in the MotoGP paddock, and come into their first season in the premier class after battling each other all season long last year for the 2020 Moto2 Championship, in which Bastianini came out on top.

Now, the two need to work together as teammates, and it could be a good partnership as they can learn from each other on the older-spec Ducati bike.

The environment of the Esponsorama squad will allow the two to build up their confidence in the top-class, whilst not piling too much pressure on them as the team aren’t one of the front-runners.

Last year did show signs that the Spanish team are making their way up the grid, with Johann Zarco having a rather successful season and finishing in the mid-pack in the Riders’ Standings.

We shouldn’t expect wonders from the Esponsorama outfit, but it would be unwise to suggest they won’t be points finishers as the season unfolds.

Esponsorama Racing are another team that will battle at the back this year. The Spanish team will run the old factory Ducati bikes from 2019. On the rider front, there is a double change. Out go Tito Rabat and Johann Zarco; their replacements are Italian duo Luca Marini and Enea Bastianini.

The rookies are in for a tough debut season as both will need to adapt to running at the back. Both riders own wins on their CV’s from the lower categories, while Bastianini is a Moto2 champion. That pedigree should help them both settle into working with the team this season.

Marini is an exciting talent that has a natural feel for the bike underneath him. It is a year of learning for these two, an apprenticeship if you will.

The big bonus of riding an uncompetitive bike is that it allows riders to shine if they can out-perform the bike on occasions; specifically, in wet conditions or crazy races. Marini and Bastianini are two riders everyone should watch in 2021.
