The race week schedule for the 89th Le Mans 24 Hours event in August unveils four days of track action throughout.
Proceedings begin with pre-race scrutineering on Friday 13th August, taking place at the circuit.
The passed checks will be valid for both the test day on August 15th and the race weekend itself.
Practice and qualifying sessions have been adjusted to the needs of the competitors, with the first free practice session on Wednesday 18th August at 2pm (local time).
Hyperpole qualifying, which was trialed at last year’s Le Mans event, will follow the next day between 9pm-9.30pm.
It entails the top six cars of each category (of which there are four) fighting it out for outright pole position or within their top-six threshold.
It was deemed successful as the track featured less traffic and gave drivers the opportunity to push for undisturbed hotlaps.
The usual support races will make their appearance with two ‘Road to Le Mans’ races (featuring LMP3 and GT3 cars), one Porsche Sprint Challenge France race, and two ‘Endurance Racing Legends’ races showcasing competition between a mix of 75 GT and prototypes from the 90s and 2000s.
The full circuit itself will be closed off at 8am on Wednesday August 18th until Sunday evening after the race has been completed.
This is regarding to the locals who need to use the public roads that make up most of the Circuit de la Sarthe.
Further details on the schedule and ticketing will be released in May.
