Spanish GP: Zarco tops final warm up as Marquez crashes

Johann Zarco went fastest in the final warm up ahead of today’s Spanish GP, while Marc Marquez suffered a big crash.

Pramac’s Johann Zarco topped the final timesheets in Sunday’s warm up session ahead of this afternoon’s Spanish GP. The Frenchman’s time of 1:37.668 saw him go fastest after Maverick Vinales lost his time after an infringement.

Vinales’ original time was good enough for second, the Spaniard underlining the potential race of the M1 Yamaha. Pole sitter Fabio Quartararo finished third ahead of KTM’s Brad Binder and reigning champion Joan Mir.

The Repsol Honda duo of Pol Espargaro and Marc Marquez both experienced big crashes that will dent their confidence levels heading into the race. Marquez escaped the accident with no significant injuries, he’ll take his place on the grid come race-time.

Valentino Rossi’s troubles continued as The Doctor was only 20th fastest on his Petronas Yamaha bike. Wildcard rider Stefan Bradl performed well to finish 11th, while exciting youngsters Pecco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini finished in the top ten.
