Briscoe, Dumas and Westbrook confirmed for Glickenhaus debut at 8H Portimão

Glickenhaus Racing has confirmed their single-entry and FIA WEC debut at the 8 Hours of Portimão with drivers Ryan Briscoe, Romain Dumas and Richard Westbrook.

The American marque has confirmed their highly anticipated debut into the FIA World Endurance Championship and the new Hypercar category.

The #709 SCG 007 LMH will make its racing debut on June 13 at the second round of the Season 9 calendar, the 8 Hours of Portimão.

Earlier this year, they confirmed a roster of seven drivers for their 2021 endurance endeavours.

Several private tests have been conducted at the likes of Vallelunga and Monza where respected sportscar endurance stars Ryan Briscoe, Romain Dumas and Richard Westbrook have all driven the 007 LMH.

After recently passing their aero homologation test (aerodynamics being an area Sauber assist in), the car will be put through the five year (homologation) period.

This was primarily why they were forced to miss the 6 Hours of Spa opener where Alpine Elf Matmut had their grandfathered LMP1 and Toyota GAZOO Racing brought their GR010 Hybrid.

In a Tweet, they added:

“Glickenhaus 007 LMH Chassis and Race #708 will head to Aragon for a 30-hour test, on for a demo lap at the N24, which Glickenhaus 004C race and chassis #706 will race.

“[The] #708 will then be fully rebuilt for The Goodwood Festival of Speed and then join her sister at Monza.”

Glickenhaus and the seven drivers: What do they bring to the team

After making their debut at the Algarve International Circuit, the other #708 chassis will join the #709 at the 6 Hours of Monza, followed by the 24 Hours of Le Mans in August.

Glickenhaus Racing will reveal the driver line-up of the #708 in due course.

Glickenhaus will be the second outfit to bring a bespoke LMH after Toyota GAZOO Racing which will be followed by Peugeot in 2022 and more manufacturers in 2023.
