Lando Norris has signed a multiyear deal with McLaren with his eye on an F1 world championship title.
After Norris’ impressive start to the season, there is no surprise that he is happy to continue his journey with McLaren.
Norris will remain at the team for the foreseeable along side his teammate Daniel Ricciardo. Ricciardo signed a multiyear contract with McLaren ahead of this season that will run through until 2023.
Norris has been part of McLaren since 2017 where he started his journey as a test and simulator driver. He then made his F1 debut with McLaren three years ago in 2019. Since he has won two podiums and has found himself at the top end of the drivers championships for the past two seasons.
Norris stated on twitter:
“my goal is to win races and world championships and over the past three years McLaren have shown me theyre able to build me a car to do that in.”

CEO of McLaren Racing, Zak Brown, said in his official statement :
“I’m delighted with the extension of our agreement with Lando…He’s been instrumental in our return of form here at McLaren and we’re proud of the growth he has shown…Lando is one of the brightest talents on the F1 grid.”
As the decision has been made early into the season, this gives McLaren and their drivers the time to focus and lay out their plan for the next few years, potentially pressuring the other top field competitors.
With Norris currently in fourth position in the drivers championship and McLaren in third in the constructors championship, this looks to be a very strong move for McLaren on their journey back to the top.
