Beche replaces Duval at Realteam Racing due to IMSA clash

Mathias Beche will replace Loic Duval at next week’s 8 Hours of Portimão due an IMSA clash with the Detroit Grand Prix.

The former Peugeot LMP1, and upcoming Peugeot Hypercar driver, will temporarily step out of the Realteam Racing LMP2 seat due to other commitments in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

A fellow LMP2 driver Filipe Albuquerque faces the same situation and will be replaced by Paul Di Resta.

Mathias Beche has a plethora of sportscar racing experience including all of the FIA WEC seasons from 2012 (excluding Season 8), IMSA, and the European Le Mans Series.

Six of his seven seasons were spent at the Rebellion Racing team in the LMP1 (LMP2 in 2017) hotseat in Lola B12/60, the Rebellion R-One and the R13 Gibson.

The Swiss’ endurance highlight was in 2014 when he won the Le Mans 24 Hours in the LMP1-L class (fourth overall).

He will return after Realteam Racing secured a debuting P2 Pro/Am class-finish at the 6 Hours of Spa and will look to build on that momentum on June 12/13.
