Franco Morbidelli topped FP3 of the Catalan GP as teammate Valentino Rossi put in a late lap as to send him directly to Q2.
It was a busy final few minutes as the riders went out eager to put in a lap that would send them directly into Q2 later on.
Miguel Oliveira was on top in the first runs with a 1m39.448s lap which was short lasted as the clock ran down.
In the end it was a 1m38.929s lap from Morbidelli which put the Italian on top of the leaderboard with just a short time left in the session.
Fabio Quartararo ended up second place and looks like the man to beat this weekend, ahead of Oliveira and Pecco Bagnaia in third and fourth.
Aleix Espargaro had a strong session for Aprilia in fifth, the Spaniard finished ahead of Brad Binder, KTM continue to look good at Catalunya.
Johann Zarco put in a lap that was good enough for seventh, with Maverick Vinales and Joan Mir behind the Frenchman.
Rossi put in a sensational lap late on which put him tenth and will see him go directly to Q2 and guarantees ‘The Doctor’ at least a fourth row start.
Jack Miller will be disappointed with his FP3 time, the Australian ended 11th and will go through Q1 this afternoon.
Taka Nakagami finished 12th on the leaderboard ahead of Pol Espargaro and Danilo Petrucci.
Marc Marquez put his Honda in 15th to finish faster than Jorge Martin who returns from injury this weekend, Iker Lecuona was 17th.
Alex Marquez ended FP3 ahead of Enea Bastianini who had a crash early on at Turn 5 on his Esponsorama Ducati.
Luca Marini put in a time that could only put him 20th to finish ahead of Lorenzo Savadori who crashed late on at Turn 4.
