Maverick Vinales doubled up to sweep Friday’s practice sessions at the Dutch TT, topping FP2 ahead of Miguel Oliveira and Fabio Quartararo.

Yamaha’s Maverick Vinales carried on his impressive start from this morning into this afternoon’s second practice session. Top Gun once again set the pace on a solid day for the Yamaha team.

Miguel Oliveira pushed himself into the top-two with a tidy lap in the dry conditions. However, the Portuguese rider also went fastest in the wet conditions near the end of the session as the rain clouds descended on the Assen circuit.

Championship leader Fabio Quartararo rounded out the top three, further cementing Yamaha’s early pace this weekend. Joan Mir and Alex Rins enjoyed a good session, while Jack Miller broke into the top-10 in this session.

Honda’s Pol Espargaro continued to show good pace despite getting used to a new chassis. However, the story was slightly different for his teammate Marc Marquez. The former world champion experienced a horrifying high-side that sent him tumbling into the gravel trap. Marquez limped back into the garage after that hefty blow.

In the end, Yamaha and Vinales showed they are currently the team to beat this weekend. The inter-team battle between Vinales and Quartararo will be fascinating to follow.
