Jack Goff of Team HARD Racing was pleased with his second-placed finish in Race 3 adding to the nine-race points streak so far in the new Cupra.
Team HARD Racing tasted their first notable success this season with Jack Goff, who stood on the podium for the 21st time in his BTCC career.
After the reverse grid draw at the end of Race 2, Goff was set up to start on the front row behind pole-sitter Adam Morgan.
As the first time for the new Cupra, Goff kept Morgan under pressure but eventually secured his maiden 2021 podium by the end of the 24 laps.
“It’s a small portion of repaying all the hard work,” he reflected after the race.
“Me and Adam [Morgan] were pretty much the same speeds he’d catch me, he’d pull away one lap, I’d catch him the next but, you know, the position we were in to get behind, it started to rain.
“I thought ‘Here we go, it’s our opportunity, the rear-wheel drive car might struggle’, and it didn’t seem to really happen,” he describes his undoubtedly hopes on catching the leading BMW.
“I think we needed a little bit more rain and maybe a few laps earlier to make a difference, but at that point, P2’s good for us. It’s our third weekend with a car.
“It’s probably beyond our expectations, to be honest… and we’ve scored points in all of nine races so far. So you know, we should be happy.
“And I think that’s a testament to the job they’ve (Team HARD members) done in the wintertime.”
His points scoring efforts at every round now situates him ninth in the overall standings after consistent finishing spots before his Brands Hatch Indy podium breakthrough.
Goff added a sentiment to being on the podium in front of a crowd, having not raced in witness of one since the end of the 2019 season.
The 31-year-old looks to continue his points momentum at Oulton Park on 31 July/1 August.
