Four-time Renault Clio Cup Champion Paul Rivett will return to the BTCC with Motorbase at Knockhill and Thruxton to replace Andy Neate.
Motorbase driver Andy Neate will not race at the next six rounds of the calendar after pulling out from Oulton Park after qualifying.
During the five-week break prior to Oulton Park, he was recovering from COVID-19.
He tested negative two weekends ago, but pulled out after the team were conclusive on his fitness recovery difficulties.
“I can’t wait to get into such a fantastic car with such a fantastic team,” said Rivett.
“After my first experience in a BTCC car last year (with Trade Price Cars) I have been waiting to get back out in a touring car ever since.
“While it is a great opportunity for me I really hope that Andy is back to full fitness soon.
“I would just like to say a massive thank you to Motorbase and Wayne Eason for making this possible.
“Dreams can come true,” concluded the 42-year-old.
Neate targets a return to the seat of his Ford Focus ST next month at the final four weekends of the 2021 calendar.
He commented: “COVID has truly taken a hold of me this past month, and having spent some time in intensive care post-Oulton Park, there is simply no way I can be fit in time for Knockhill or Thruxton.”
Rounds 13-15 take place at Knockhill this weekend at the championship’s sole trip to Scotland.
