Prema Powerteam will launch an LMP2 endurance program with the support of Iron Lynx, entering the 2022 WEC with an Oreca 07-Gibson.
The renowned single-seater team Prema Powerteam will make their debut into endurance racing with an entry into the 2022 FIA World Endurance Championship.
A partnership between Iron Lynx and Prema was announced last month as this debut brings the support of a famed GT sportscar outfit.
Iron Lynx Team Principal, Andrea Piccini, said: “Iron Lynx has achieved important results this season in GT endurance racing and Prema is widely recognised as one of the best teams in single-seater racing.
“The expertise from both teams will create the perfect blend to compete at the highest level.”
Prema Team Principal, Rene Rosin, added: “This is an incredibly exciting development for our team and will lead us into a highly motivating new dimension.
“We are looking forward to collaborating with the Iron Lynx team to share best practice and knowledge, which we hope will be only the start of a successful future in endurance racing.”
Iron Lynx currently have two full-time WEC entries in the form of GTE-Am Ferraris.
They have ventured into other championships such as the European Le Mans Series (the feeder which enabled their 2021 debut into the WEC) and the Michelin Le Mans Cup.
In Iron Lynx’s second 24 Hours of Le Mans, their #60 entry landed a podium finish in the Am category.
Furthermore, the secondary LMP2 category has become more competitive in recent years and will enable both Prema and Iron Lynx their first taste of endurance prototypes.
A delivery of an Oreca 07-Gibson LMP2 will be due soon at Prema Powerteam to begin preparations for the 2022 WEC commencing at Sebring.
