Two-time World Endurance Champion and former Le Mans winner Timo Bernhard will enter his own team for the 2022 DTM with a Porsche 911 GT3 R.
Under the KÜS Team Bernhard name, another Porsche 911 GT3 R will enter the 2022 season as the German manufacturer prepares for a three-car DTM debut.
Porsche factory driver Thomas Preining has already been confirmed in the seat.
The 23-year-old from Austria said: “I am super excited and motivated for the DTM next year.
“Since I learned about this, I have been working avidly every day.
“After all, I want to be prepared for this season in the best possible way in order to get the project off to a good start right away.
“I have full confidence in the team and everyone involved.
“I think that we should be definitely taken into account and that we are able to achieve something.”
Preining has a wealth of experience in Porsche machinery from the Porsche Carrera and Super Cup championships, to the WEC and several GT outings.
The double Le Mans 24 Hours winner added: “This is a fully new challenge.
“I am very proud of being allowed to announce our new top-notch programme for the 2022 season. We will be racing in DTM with a Porsche 911 GT3 R.
“I think that after six years in ADAC GT Masters, we are well prepared for it.
“With our driver Thomas Preining, we have an important constant factor in our team.
“I know about his qualities and I am very happy that he is part of our programme.”
As well as their single-DTM entry, the team will pursue a pair of 718 Cayman RS Clubsports in the feeder series, the DTM Trophy.
They join SSR Performance’s double-entries as the confirmed Porsche DTM outfits thus far.
The 2022 season will get underway at Portimao in Portugal from 29 April to 1 May.
