Feller set for DTM debut as third ABT Sportsline driver

Ricardo Feller has been confirmed as ABT Sportsline’s third driver for the 2022 DTM season in which the Swiss driver will make his debut.

The 21-year-old Swiss driver will pursue his DTM debut in an Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo 2.

He joins teammates Kelvin van der Linde and Rene Rast at the team.
ABT CEO and Team Principal Thomas Biermaier said: “It is mega that we can run three cars in DTM this year as well.

“With René, Kelvin and Ricardo, we have three drivers who can all battle for the title.

“In spite of his young age, Ricardo already has several years of experience with the Audi R8 LMS and is one of the fastest drivers with this car.”

Feller competed with a GT3 package at the age of 16 in the ADAC GT Masters Championship four years ago.

His post-Formula 4 single-seater career featured himself in primarily two GT3 car models, with the Lamborghini Huracan Evo and Emil Frey Racing hosting most of his experience.

He first encountered the Audi R8 GT3 package with Team WRT during the final six races in the 2018 Pirelli GT World Challenge Sprint Cup; his best finish was 13th overall which was a win in his Silver driver category.

His other encounters include the Endurance Cup of the Pirelli GT WC, plus three IMSA endurance outings in 2019 – in an Audi R8.

Feller said: “DTM has been my dream from the very beginning.

“It is cool that this dream is becoming reality at ABT Sportsline.

“I am aware that 2022 will be a challenge. Irrespective of my teammates, competition in DTM will probably be even stronger than last year.

“I want to pit myself against the best, and these are currently racing in DTM.”

ABT Sportsline retain their goal to once again challenge for the overall title with van der Linde claiming third in the standings at the end of the 2021 season.

Feller’s first DTM outing will be at the official Hockenheim in April before the season kicks off at Portimao.
