#5 JDC Miller car to start on pole for Roar Before the 24

The #5 JDC Miller car start from DPi pole for tomorrow’s Roar Before the 24 after a late red flag caused by Renger van der Zande in the #1.

GTD Class

The start of the GTD qualifying got off to an incident-filled start, with both the #47 Cetilar and #21 AF Corse spinning at Turn 6 and Turn 5.

Furthermore, the #66 Acura set themselves for a repair job ahead of tomorrow’s Roar 24 race after a crash.

The #2 KCMG Porsche left it late to jump to the top of the standings, a 1m46.136s lap at the chequered flag put the 911 GT3R on top ahead of the #9 Pfaff Motorsports car, making it a GTD-Pro front-row.

Two GTD-class cars of the #75 and #57 Mercedes will start tomorrow’s race from third and fourth, the #63 TR3 Racing car will start from fifth.

A 1m46.683s lap from the GTD-Pro #23 Aston Martin was good enough for sixth, ahead of the #59 GTD Crucial Motorsports.

The #62 Ferrari will start tomorrow’s race in eighth, with the #14 VasserSullivan and #97 WeatherTech Racing Mercedes rounding out the top-ten of the GTD class.

LMP3 Class

The LMP3 category qualifying was much more straightforward for the drivers.

The #26 Muehlner Motorsports America will start first in its class from a 1m42.182s lap, ahead of the #38 car.

The #36 Andretti Autosport car will start third in-class ahead of the #6 and #54 cars.

A 1m46.053s lap from the #33 Sean Creech Motorsport put the team sixth in-class.

The #13 AWA car will start seventh in the LMP3 class with the #7 Forty7 Motorsports car eighth, albeit with both cars starting amongst the GTD cars.

The #9 Riley Motorsports LMP3 car did not set a time and will start ninth in-class and 60th overall.

LMP2 Class

The short-lived qualifying for the LMP2 cars after the red flag caused by Van Der Zande in the DPi class meant the #52 car’s 1m37.296s lap by Ben Keating secured first in-class ahead of the #11 PR1 car.

High Class Racing’s #20 car will start from third in the LMP2 class ahead of the #68 and #69 G-Drive Racing Oreca’s.

A 1m38.987s lap from the #81 DragonSpeed secured sixth ahead of the #29 and #8 cars.

The #18 Era Motorsport and #22 United Autosports cars round out the LMP2 category with an class result of ninth and 10th. The latter team were caught out with the Red Flag which prevented them from setting a more competitive lap time.

DPi Class

Qualifying in the DPi class was gearing up to be a close finish, but Van Der Zande brought out a red flag with under five minutes remaining after his #01 car went off at Turn 5 and got stuck.

Due to the red flag, Van Der Zande’s fastest two laps were invalidated which dropped the #01 car to seventh and last in the DPi class.

The early end to the session meant the #5 JDC Miller Motorsports car held onto the fastest lap with a 1m34.034s lap and will start the Roar Before the 24 on pole, 0.122s ahead of the #10 car.

The #02 Cadillac Racing ended qualifying in third ahead of the #31 Whelen Engineering Racing and #48 Ally Cadillac.

A 1m35.407s from Tom Blomqvist put the #60 car in ninth, ahead of Cadillac’s #1.

UPDATE: The #10 (failing post-qualifying scrutineering), #22 and #42 will start at the back of their respective classes.
