Daytona 24: Cadillac Racing at the front, Risi leads in GTD-Pro

After 14 hours of racing at the 24 Hours of Daytona, the #2 Cadillac Racing led the field over the #10 Acura in DPi.

After just half an hour, Oliver Jarvis understeered his DPi off the circuit just after the Western Horseshoe, he spun again at Turn 1 proving just how little grip there was during the cold temperatures.

Sebastien Bourdais set a staggering all-time fastest lap of a 1m33.941s in his #01 Cadillac DPi.

With seven DPi cars on the same racing lap towards the end of the 13th hour, something had to give.

Jimmy Johnson’s #48 Ally Cadillac suffered rear right suspension failure after contact with a GTD class car coming out of Turn 3.

At the 13th hour, the temperature dropped another degree to just one below freezing. The cars and the drivers were struggling with the temperatures.

The #71 Lamborghini of Misha Goikhberg has pulled off with a suspected electrical issue. FCY has been issued as a safety precaution.

Goikhberg’s stricken Lamborghini was stretchered back to the team’s pit box.

At the 13 hour mark, every single DPi car dove into the pits including overall leader #01 Cadillac of Sebastien Bourdais who dove behind the wall for his car’s maintenance to be completed.

After the green flag flew again just after the 13 hours mark, Felipe Albuquerque attacked into Turn 1 leaving the door open for Kevin Magnussen to take the second position in the DPi class.

Sebastien Bourdais in the #01 Cadillac was still in the pitlane and was needing a new wiring loom before he was able to rejoin, Cadillac were unable to source one so his race came to an abrupt stand-still.

Meanwhile the #42 DPi of Jimmy Johnson was also still in its pit box after the team uncovered a lot more damage than was originally thought.

Filipe Albuquerque in the #10 Acura DPi managed to hustle his way past the #5 of Richard Westbrook who consequently also lost out to the #02 of Kevin Magnussen.

Magnussen chased down the #10 Acura in his Cadillac right up until the end of the 14th hour.
