Eight-time WRC Champion Ogier set for Richard Mille WEC debut

Eight-time WRC champion Sebastien Ogier will make his WEC debut with Richard Mille Racing’s LMP2 outfit in the 2022 season.

The #1 Richard Mille Racing team has confirmed their new driver line-up for Season 10.

Ogier will partner reigning LMP2 Le Mans winner and Drivers’ Champion Charles Milesi, alongside debutant Lilou Wadoux.

The WRC star tested with Toyota GAZOO Racing’s WEC team at last year’s Bahrain Rookie Test, and another test at Aragon shortly after finishing second at the Monte Carlo Rally.

Ogier said: “Up until now, I have focused on my rally career, but it has been on my mind for a long time that endurance racing could be a good challenge.

“LMP2 is a fantastic category and the best way for me to reach the highest level of endurance racing and improve in this discipline.

“I am a novice for sure, but I want to enjoy myself while assessing what’s possible and seeing how close I can get to the best. Everyone is excited about it.

“Charles [Milesi], Lilou [Wadoux] and I come from three different worlds, and it will be interesting to combine our different experiences with Richard Mille, who has been by my side for several years now.

“This adventure is enticing, but I am aware that I have a lot to learn and a lot of experience to gain.

“I have always had a good capacity to adapt in rallying, so I hope that this will also be true on race tracks.”

Wadoux was the first female driver in the Alpine Elf Europa Cup and the 20-year-old will make her sportscar debut this season after her participation in the Rookie Test.

Richard Mille’s new crew replaces the WEC’s first full-season, all-female line-up of Beitske Visser, Sophia Floersch and Tatiana Calderon.

The 10th season of the WEC commences at Sebring in March, with the Prologue test on 12-13 March followed by the 1000-mile opening race on 18 March.
