Lamborghini works driver Mirko Bortolotti has been confirmed amongst four drivers competing in Grasser Racing Team’s 2022 DTM debut.

Bortolotti, a former champion in F2, has raced with GRT since 2015 with 17 wins, 21 pole positions and 35 podiums to his name.

He took on GRT’s DTM guest entry at Assen last year scoring a P2 finish and the fastest race lap time.

Amongst his and Ineichen’s achievements for GRT, were two GTD class victories at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2018 and 2019.

Furthermore, they won the 12 Hours of Sebring in 2019 as Bortolotti secured the Blancpain GT Endurance Cup in 2017.

Benedikt Böhme, managing director of the DTM organisation ITR, said: “We really appreciate the maximum commitment of Lamborghini.

“With Mirko Bortolotti, the manufacturer is providing an outstanding driver and in DTM, he will be meeting his peers.”

In the same press release, Team Principal Gottfried Grasser said: “It will be an exciting year for our team and I am very proud of having Mirko and Rolf on board.

“They have been mainstays in our team for many years and played a crucial role in some of our biggest achievements.”

Grasser Racing’s DTM switch shows the series is moving forward

Schmid was announced as a driver in Grasser Racing’s full-time DTM pursuit last December and brings ten years of GT3 experience into his first DTM season.

Deledda will make his first appearance in a GT3 car having spent most of his career in single-seaters.

Two-time DTM runner-up Manuel Reuter, Team Manager and Sporting Director at GRT added:

“Our line-up is providing a perfect set-up for our maiden season in DTM.

“With Mirko, we have an undisputed race winner and a first-class team leader. He is a fantastic benchmark from which the other drivers will benefit.”
