Ciceley Motorsport has confirmed George Gamble as one of their two drivers for the 2022 British Touring Car Championship season.
The 25-year-old will pursue his maiden BTCC campaign for Ciceley Motorsport alongside team regular Adam Morgan.
For the second year in-a-row, they will field the BMW 3 Series, albeit a hybrid model adhering to the new era commencing this year.
The majority of Gamble’s motorsport career has been with BTCC’s support series, stretching as far back as 2011 when he finished third overall in the Ginetta Junior Championship.
In a press release, he said: “I am under no illusions – the racing will be a step up from what I am used to.
“The level in the championship is so high and the racing so close, but I feel with the experience of the team and a quick driver in Adam [Morgan] as my teammate, I can have a solid first season and a good run at the Jack Sears Trophy.”
Gamble last drove in the 2019 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship, landing four wins and 10 podium finishes.
Morgan completed the 2021 season with four podiums to his name, including two wins and two consecutive third-placed finishes at Oulton Park.
He outscored his then-teammate Tom Chilton with a tally of 161 points compared to the 2010 Independents’ Champion at 64.
Morgan added: “His pedigree in rear-wheel drive machinery on the TOCA package is second to none, and after our first couple of meetings together he has fit straight into the team dynamic.
“With a learning year under our belts last season with the BMWs, we are in a brilliant position to have a proper run at the title in 2022.”
As both drivers are put through their pre-season testing programmes, the 65th BTCC season is set to open at Donington Park on 23/24 April.
