Prologue: United Autosports fastest in incident-packed final session

The #22 United Autosports Oreca 07 LMP2 was fastest in the last Prologue test session after ending the meeting early in the Turn 17 barriers.

The fourth and final session took place at a bright afternoon at an iconically bumpy and demanding circuit.

It was a dramatic meeting featuring incidents and red flags, one of which ended the session early.

Lasting three-hours, this affair would be the final pre-season chance to work on the reliability and mileage before the 1000 Miles of Sebring next week to begin the season.

A little while later through the session, contact occurred between the #56 Team Project 1 and the #7 Toyota GAZOO Racing Hypercar which put Iribe in a spin, hitting the Turn 1 barriers backwards.

He was unhurt from the significant accident, but the team has confirmed their 911 RSR was beyond the chance to repair and recover, therefore discussions are taking place about a replacement with the two days until the WEC’s opening weekend begins.

Another red flag was deployed 10 minutes before the scheduled end of the session when the #22 of Phil Hanson ended up in the barriers at Turn 17 (final corner) running out to the marbles.

Nevertheless, the #22 were fastest out of everyone with a best lap-time of 1m48.439s, one of 67 completed by the Season 8 LMP2 champions.

Behind them in second overall was Alpine Elf Team, the fastest Hypercar in the session.

They racked up 57 laps-worth of experience and their fastest one was a 1m48.617s.

In GTE-Pro, full-season WEC debutants Corvette Racing narrowly edged out the #91 Porsche GT Team thanks to a 1m56.476s and 67 laps accomplished.

Finally, in the GTE-Am class, it was the #77 Dempsey-Proton Racing Porsche which topped the respective field with a 1m57.787s as their fastest out of 54 laps.
