Both LMP2 WRT-backed Oreca 07s finished 1-2 at the third WEC Prologue session at Sebring International Raceway.
On the final day of pre-season testing, Sebring opened up to sunshine albeit cooler temperatures and a breeze, although temperatures rose throughout.
The third session of 3 hours and 30 minutes featured three red flag periods.
Leading the 36-car field was WRT, with their #41 RealTeam By WRT ahead of the reigning champions #31.
A 1m48.089s by Ferdinand Habsburg set the #41 almost three-tenths clear of the sister car, which was followed by the former championship-winning #22 Oreca 07 of United Autosports.
The first Red Flag was declared after the #44 spun at Turn 17 during a full-course caution.
In fourth place overall and topping the Hypercar field was Alpine Elf Team.
Their #36 A480 Gibson completed 47 laps of the circuit, with their fastest time at 1m48.707s and a highest speed of 277.88 km/h.
GTE-Pro was led by the #92 Porsche GT Team with a time of 1m55.513s.
They completed 25 laps of testing, over half the amount their #91 sibling 911 RSR had done, hinting potential troubles due to their significantly reduced amount of running compared to yesterday and after their moment when it stopped at Turn 8 to be recovered.
A driveshaft failure was later confirmed which prevented further running.
GTE-Am was topped by the #77 Dempsey-Proton Racing Porsche with a quickest time of 1m57.573s with 48 laps under their belt.
In fact, the top four cars in the class were Porsche 911 RSRs.
The Spirit of Race Ferrari suffered front, left-hand side, and rear damage in the hands of Franck Dezoteux after it had an off with an hour remaining in the session.
One evening session is left before next week’s 1000 Miles of Sebring season-opener.
